M4A3E2 Sherman “Jumbo”
History of the tank
The U.S. military had a shortage of heavy tanks which they compensated for by installing additional armor, a heavier turret, and a gearbox designed for a heavier tank on 250 of its Shermans. This is how the M4A4E2 "Jumbo" was created, a variant with a 76 mm cannon, ready to take on German 75 mm and 88 mm cannons. Their biggest advantage was the striking resemblance to the standard M4 Shermans, which is why the enemy could not spot them until they came closer or until it was too late.
